Mountain Home Primitive Baptist Church

Declaring the finished work of Jesus Christ! - Matthew 1:21

Welcome to Mountain Home

Mountain Home GroundbreakingMountain Home Primitive Baptist Church was constituted as a body of baptized believers in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina in 1926.   Their first pastor was Elder Luther Langdon Huffman (pictured).  For nearly 23 years this church family met together in their homes to worship the Lord. It wasn’t until 1949 that the local church was able to have the funds to build a meeting house where they could regularly meet.  The meeting house for Mountain Home Primitive Baptist Church still stands today in the same spot opening its doors every Sunday morning for worship.  It is in this same spot that we hear the preaching of God’s word for instruction, encouragement and for the worship and glorifying of our Redeemer.

Many things have changed since the constitution of Mountain Home back in 1926.  Many pastors have come and gone, members have deceased or moved away and others since have found a home there and communities have developed around the church’s meeting house.  But while Mountain Home has experienced many changes through the years one thing has not changed. Acapella singing still rings through the meeting house and the ancient landmarks of the gospel still remain firm. The preaching of the sovereign grace and mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ can still be heard from the pulpit and among its members.  He is the same yesterday, today, and forever and His gospel will continue to comfort and encourage the poor in spirit so long as this earth stands.
