Jonah - Part 4
In Jonah Ch.4 the subject is not Jonah, but the great compassion of God! Jonah is back out of the will of God and while he desires the Lord’s compassion he does not have the same feelings for the people of Nineveh. Jonah prayed his best prayer in the worse place (Ch.2) and his worse prayer in the best place (Ch.4). The lesson of the gourd, worm and wind should remind us that God has compassion for sinners. Jonah is egocentric and his only thought is of himself as he lay waiting to see what would become of Nineveh. My, how easy it is for us to only be concerned about our own creature comforts and not the compassion of God for His people.
