In Jonah ch.2 Jonah is in the will of God. His desire to do the Lord’s will was borne not out of affection but affliction. God can and does chasten his people when they are in disobedience. Chastisement, if properly received, humbles the once erring child of God and brings him back into fellowship with God. It is in those grievous times of chastisement that our prayers are not only prayers of petition, but prayers of thanksgiving. Salvation is of the Lord!
