Jehovah-Shalom, The Lord is our peace. The nature of this peace comes from the very attribute of God. Not only does he give peace, but he is peace itself! The foundation of this peace rests in the atoning work of Jesus Christ. God made peace through Christ’s blood on the cross. And because of that we have been reconciled to himself. The effect of this peace brings comfort and consolation to the child of God who is troubled in this life. It’s not the peace of this world, but the peace of God through the gospel that gives us rest. It is a great blessing to have the gospel of peace; but an even greater blessing to have the peace of the gospel!
